Be
Safe on the Web
dream... is concerned about
your safety on the WorldWide Web. For
that reason, we are compiling a list
of the most important things to bear
in mind when surfing the Internet, whether
at the dream... website or elsewhere.
1. NEVER give out your real name or
any other details such as your address,
phone number or email address in chat-rooms
or to anyone you "meet" online.
2. NEVER give out your passwords to
anything - even to your friends. You
will never be asked for your password
by any responsible website, except at
the point of login..
3. NEVER open email attachments unless
you are expecting them and/or are certain
that you know what they are. Often,
a virus will spread by addressing itself
to every contact in the address book.
You are therefore quite likely to know
the person who has sent the virus, and
might not realise that what looks like
an email from a friend is actually a
destructive virus.
4. If in doubt, ALWAYS ask your Mum
or Dad, or a responsible adult for help,
and remember, if something happens online
that worries you at all, the best thing
is to log off or close down your browser,
and then go and get help.
